In the events related to the fight between the two giants, Spotify has now responded to Apple. Spotify has called Apple a ‘monopolist’.

As per Variety, Spotify apart from calling Apple a ‘monopolist’ has stated that Spotify feels that its response to the lawsuit was “entirely in line with our expectations”. This is the latest event to happen in the public spat of both the companies. Spotify had also filed a complaint with the European Union. It has alleged that Apple uses unfair practices in the App Store. Spotify has also stated that Apple Music enjoys an unfair advantage as Apple charges developers 30 percent for subscriptions.

In addition to this, Spotify even made a website to outline the complaints against Apple. Interestingly, the name of the website is Time to Play Fair. In justification to this Apple also stated that Spotify “wants all the benefits of a free app without being free. It even came out piblically and stated that only a “tiny fraction” of subscribers sign up via tha App Store.

In a statement Spotify has stated that, every monopolist will suggest they have done nothing wrong and will argue that they have the best interests of competitors and consumers at heart. This is evident in Apple’s belief that Spotify’s users in iOS are Apple customers and not Spotify customers, which goes to the very heart of the issue with Apple.” By stating this, Spotify has visibly gone to reiterate that Apple’s policies hurt customers.
Even the European Union confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that Spotify did file a complaint and they have received it. It also made clear that it is now working on determining the next steps.
